LUBBOCK, TX - Texas Tech's Gonzalo Escobar lost a tight first set, came back to win the second set to square the match, and then, dropping the final set, was eliminated from the ITA quarterfinals in Tulsa.

Escobar took on Virginia's Jarmere Jenkins in quarterfinals consolation singles. The University of Virginia Cavalier was ranked as high as No. 16 nationally in singles last season. Jenkins won the match 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-4.

"These ITA singles matches have been very good for Gonzalo. He played very good tennis against strong competition and won two of his three consolation round matches," commented coach Tim Siegel.

Escobar is the No. 24 ranked player nationally, according to the recently released 2010 Campbell/ITA Preseason Singles Rankings.

The Red Raiders are idle until the ITA Regionals in College Station beginning on October 23.
