Connor Curry Signs With Red Raider Tennis
Connor Curry is the highest rated American player to sign with Texas Tech in more than a decade.

LUBBOCK – Texas Tech head coach Tim Siegel has announced the signing of Wichita Falls native Connor Curry to the Red Raider Tennis team.
“We are so excited to have Connor join our team,” said Siegel. “He is extremely talented . He is incredibly quick with a big upside and tremendous competitor. He has the potential to make an immediate impact in both singles and doubles. Connor is a great kid, who comes from a great family.”
Curry, who is rated the No. 1 U18 player in Texas by the USTA, has been ranked as high as No. 22 nationally by TennisRecruiting.com. He won the John McFarlin Award for the most outstanding tennis player in Texas in 2013.
“I am so excited to be a Red Raider,” said Curry. “I have followed Tech ever since my brother was interested in Tech. I have a great relationship with Coach Siegel and have tremendous respect for his coaching ability. I really look forward to being part of the Texas Tech family. Wreck ‘Em.”
This season, Curry won the 2013 Texas Grand Slam, the biggest tournament in Texas, and finished third at the USTA National Open in Midland. He has been rated as the No. 1 player in the state in both the 16s and 18s by the USTA.
He also advanced to the Class 4A state finals in singles as a freshman at Wichita Falls Rider and made it to the semifinals as a sophomore.
Curry, who plays right handed with a double handed backhand, chose Texas Tech over Arkansas and LSU.
