Orlando Smith brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Texas Tech Strength & Conditioning staff, arriving on campus in 2009.
Prior to Tech, Smith served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of South Carolina since 2005, after spending two years at the University of Kansas in a similar role. Following graduation in 1999, Smith took a position as running backs coach at Thomas Moore College in Kentucky, before moving on to his first Division I position as a graduate assistant strength coach for football at the University of Minnesota.
A former all-conference running back for the University of Cincinnati in the late 1990s, Smith helped lead the Bearcats to the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl championship. He twice earned All-Conference USA honors. Smith graduated from Cincinnati in 1999 with a degree in Criminal Justice/Psychology. While with the Minnesota program, he earned a Master's Degree in Sport Management in December 2002.
