Tyson Carter joined the Olympic sports' Strength & Conditioning coaching staff at Texas Tech in 2008 and spent two years as a Graduate Assistant, another as a part-time employee, before becoming a member of the full-time staff.

His primary sports are Women's Basketball and Men's and Women's Tennis. While a graduate assistant he helped develop and implement strength and conditioning programs for Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Tennis, Women's Volleyball and Women's Soccer.

Carter played football at North Texas University from 2005-2007 before transferring to Angelo State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. He enrolled in the Exercise Physiology and Strength and Conditioning graduate program at Texas Tech University, completing his degree in 2010.

He is nationally certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), the USA Weightlifting (USAW) and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
