Michigan Sneaks Past Tech

It was a hard-fought game til the end but Michigan found ways to pull ahead late after some good runs by Texas Tech and beat the Lady Raiders, 82-71, in the opening game at the Barclays Center Women's Invitational. Junior guard Amber Battle scored a career-high 23 points and freshmen Jasmine Caston had a career-high 15 to go with Minta Spears' 10. The Lady Raiders hung around the Barclays Center to see the first half of the LSU-Rutgers game - one which was eventually won by the Lady Tigers, pitting Rutgers and Texas Tech against each other at 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday.
The team rested throughout the afternoon and even got in some study hall time before going out to eat at SoCo in Brooklyn. It was an amazing dinner and most got their first taste of Chicken and waffles. Now the girls are rested and ready to take on the Scarlet Knights tonight. A Day To Remember

Photo Gallery

It was truly a Thanksgiving for the Lady Raiders to always remember. The team got in their final tune-up before playing its first game against Michigan at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The team then boarded the bus and headed to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. It was an incredible sight to see where the twin towers stood up until 12 years ago. Most of the team was 9 years old or younger on Sept. 11, 2001. It marked a return trip to the Big Apple for the program and head coach Candi Whitaker, who was a player at Tech when the Lady Raiders played in New York just 100 days after 9/11.
The team then visited Chinatown and did a little early Thanksgiving shopping before heading to 230 Fifth Restaurant, just north of the Flatiron District in New York City. The food and view were something special for all those in attendance to remember. Who could complain with a view of the New York skyline and Empire State Building on Thanksgiving night.
After dinner, the team and staff retreated back to the hotel in Brooklyn to watch the Texas Tech-Texas football game together before retiring for the night to prepare for Friday's game.
You can follow along on twitter @TechGameday and @traviscram for updates during the game and be sure to check back at TexasTech.com for a full recap with video, photos and stats after the game.

Fun in Times Square

Well it has been a fun first night in the Big Apple. The team got a chance to see the city for the first time and walk around Times Square before eating dinner at Dave and Buster's and then enjoying "The Lion King" on Broadway. The show was unbelievable with all the amazing set designs and costumes and, oh yes - the music and acting was second to none. Now it's off to bed and back at it in the morning for the team's first practice at the Barclays Center - the final preparation before taking on Michigan at 9:30 a.m. CT Friday.
