Tate Announces Decision to Transfer to Abilene Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore guard Amber Tate has announced her decision to transfer from Texas Tech and pursue her basketball career at Abilene Christian University.

"We want what is best for Amber. She expressed a desire to go where she could be more of an impact player. She has been an important part of our program and would have remained one if she had chosen to stay. I have a lot of respect for Amber and we wish her the best," head coach Marsha Sharp said.

Tate came to Texas Tech from Lipan High School in Lipan, Texas. She played in 30 games for the Lady Raiders over her two seasons. During her career, she averaged 0.73 points and 0.7 rebounds per game. She totaled 27 assists and 11 steals. This season she was named to the Big 12 All-Academic Women's Basketball team.

"I love it here. However I wanted to play my final two years of basketball at a place where I could make a more substantial contribution on the floor," said Tate.
