Thompson, Jones Cup Team Record 2-0 Start

LUBBOCK, Texas - Lady Raider Alicia Thompson scored her first points in international basketball as she went one of one from the field and put in two free throws to help the USA Jones Cup Team defeat Thailand 100-77 on Sunday.

Thompson, who did not play in the USA's defeat of China Cathay Life on August 16, put in 11 minutes of work against Thailand. She grabbed three rebounds and had two assists.

The USA Jones Cup Team is now 2-0. The team was forced to take an unexpected break today due to a typhoon, but will return to action tomorrow as they face the undefeated Russian squad.

The United States is the defending R. Williams Jones Cup gold medalist after finishing the 1996 tournament with an unblemished 9-0 record. The 1995 team finished 6-2 and earned the bronze medal.
