Lady Raiders, Thompson Make Sporting News List

LUBBOCK, Texas --The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are ranked sixth in the nation and Alicia Thompson is a second team pick according to an upcoming issue of The Sporting News.

The Lady Raiders, who return four starters from last season' 20-10 squad, follow top ranked Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, Stanford and North Carolina. Seven of Tech's upcoming opponents are also among the Top 25. Other Big 12 schools to make the list include Texas at #19, Colorado at #22 and Kansas at #24.

Texas Tech senior Alicia Thompson, who is a Naismith Candidate, was chosen to the pre-season second team. She was the only Big 12 member among the ten student-athletes.
