MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Texas Tech women's basketball team was looking for its first Big 12 win after dropping its first two contests in league play, but Kansas State (11-5/3-0) was too much for the Lady Raiders (12-5/0-3) to handle as the Wildcats defeated Tech, 71-45.

Tech's only lead in the game came at the 17:45 mark in the first half on a jumper by Maria Moore to put the score at 4-3. Ashley Sweat hit a three-pointer 14 seconds later to give Kansas State the lead again for good. The Wildcats took a 31-20 lead into the locker room at the half.

K-State came out strong by opening the second half on a 16-6 run. Tech cut the lead to 17 twice, with the last coming with just under three minutes to play. The Wildcats would go up by as many as 27 points with 24 second to go before claiming the 26-point victory.

Moore led all Tech players with 13 points and Erin Myrick finished with eight points and nine rebounds. Ashlee Roberson also collected nine boards.

The Lady Raiders finished the night hitting 19-of-55 shot attempts for 34.5 percent. Kansas State shot 39.1 percent (25-64) from the field. Tech outrebounded the Wildcats 42-40.

Sweat and Kimberly Dietz paced K-State with 17 points apiece. Dietz hit three of the Wildcats' nine three-pointers in the game.
