Texas Tech head coach Candi Whitaker

On how the team struggled with passes:

“We definitely didn’t handle the zone well. We had a hard time attacking it with the short corner and penetrating it when we had opportunities. You got to give TCU a lot of credit. They move well in their zone and their length bothered us, but we got to be better players, use more pass fakes, be able to break people down and put something on our passes.”

On the guards and their response to turnovers:

“I thought they were really shaky and to be a good zone offensive team, you have to understand how zones work. We are very much still in the stages of understanding how defensive zones work. How to beat them and when you have an advantage and when you don’t. I thought Diamond (Lockhart) settle down a little bit in the second half, but we clearly turned it over too much against their zone.”
