LUBBOCK, Texas-The Texas Tech Lady Raiders defeated visiting Denmark Select in their opening exhibition game, 89-42.

Sophomore forward Casey Jackson paced Tech with a game-high 19 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds for the team's only double-double of the night. Senior Amber Tarr pitched in 14 points followed by sophomore Jia Perkins and freshman Cisti Greenwalt with 13 points each. Junior Plenette Pierson added 12 points.

Sophomore Jolee Ayers came off the bench and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while Perkins led the team with eight assists and five steals.

Denmark was led in scoring by Therese Demand with 11 points and Kristine Dalgaard had a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Lady Raiders shot 40.9 percent from the field, connecting on 36 of 88 shot attempts.

Tech will tip-off the 2001-02 season this Sunday, Nov. 11 against No. 4 Duke in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic in Durham, N.C. at Noon CST on ESPN.

"We are very similar to Duke in many ways," said head coach Marsha Sharp. "We both will play a big sophomore class and we both went deep into the NCAA Tournament last year. Win or lose, it's going to be a win-win situation for us."
