LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders opened the Basketball Travelers Classic with a bang, topping Idaho State, 86-72, on Thanksgiving at the United Spirit Arena. The win improves the Lady Raiders to 5-0 on the season.

Despite only shooting 2-for-10 from behind the arc in the first half, Tech ran out to an early 50-36 halftime lead, backed by junior Dominic Seals' and sophomore Jordan Murphree's 10 points apiece. The last time Tech scored 50 first-half points was coincidently also against Idaho State in 2005, when the Lady Raiders began the game with 53.

Idaho State was able to keep the game close throughout the first-half, shooting 4-for-9 from three-point range, but the Bengals 13 turnovers turned into 16 Lady Raider points.

The Lady Raiders continued their offensive onslaught early in the second half as sophomore guard Raquel Christian hit consecutive three-pointers, while senior center Erin Myrick chipped in 11 second-half points.

Four Lady Raiders finished the game in double-digit scoring, led by Myrick with 20. Seals added 14, while Murphree and sophomore Ashlee Roberson had 13 and 11, respectively.

Natalie Doma led Idaho State with 21 points, while Michelle Grohs added 19. The Bengals ended the game 7-for-19 from behind the arc, while out-rebounding the Lady Raiders, 42-41. Tech had not previously been out-rebounded this season.

Tech will continue the Basketball Travelers Classic tomorrow as the Lady Raiders take on Kennesaw State at 7 p.m.
