LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Plenette Pierson scored 21 points as No. 7 Texas Tech routed Lamar 85-41 on Wednesday night to improve to 7-0.

Texas Tech is off to its best start since the 1992-93 season, when it won its first nine games en route to the national championship.

The Lady Raiders started quickly, scoring 16 of the game's first 19 points and limiting Lamar to just 12 points in the first half on 5-of-25 shooting. Tech built a 38-12 advantage by halftime.

Lamar (4-4), which was scoreless for a 10-minute stretch during the first half, never got closer than 25 points throughout the second half.

Melinda Schmucker-Pharies added 13 points for Texas Tech, and Keitha Dickerson had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Niki McKissick and Talia Goudy each scored seven points for Lamar, which committed 26 turnovers.
