No. 5 Texas Tech Doubles up Colorado, 80-40
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Alicia Thompson scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading No. 5 Texas Tech to an 80-40 victory against Colorado on Saturday.
Colorado (7-7, 1-3 Big 12) jumped to an early 11-8 lead on a 3-pointer by La Shena Graham at 15:39 of the first half. But the Buffaloes scored only one basket in the following 13 minutes and 23 seconds.
Texas Tech (12-2, 5-0) took the lead for good, 15-13, on a layup by Katrisa O'Neal with 13:40 left in the first half. The Lady Raiders then went on 25-3 run and led 45-20 at the half. Texas Tech twice built leads of 41 points during the second half.
Julie Lake added 16 points for the Lady Raiders, who shot 48 percent from the field (32 of 67).
Texas Tech limited the Buffaloes to a season-low scoring output. Colorado, which had scored 48 points in an earlier loss to Illinois, shot 28 percent from the field (15 of 54).
Graham scored 8 points to lead Colorado, which has lost six of its past seven games.
