Perkins Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week|

DALLAS, Texas - Texas Tech's Jia Perkins was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week and Oklahoma's Stacey Dales was named Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week in a vote of a media panel for games played from Jan. 8-14.
Perkins, a 5-8 freshman guard, helped lead Texas Tech to wins over No. 23 Baylor and Texas A&M as she averaged 17 points and seven rebounds. The victory over Baylor snapped the Lady Bears' 13-game unbeaten streak. Perkins poured in a career-high 23 points in 25 minutes of play against Baylor. She shot 45.5 percent from the field, 75 percent from three-point range and 91.7 percent from the free throw line. The Granbury, Texas, native scored in double figures in both games and was Tech's top scorer vs. BU and was second on the team in rebounds. Perkins has now scored in double figures in 11 of 15 games and is third on the team in scoring with a 12.4 average.
Dales led Oklahoma to wins over No. 14 Texas and No. 23 Baylor last week as she averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds. She also shot 50 percent from the field, hitting 14-of-28 attempted shots, and nailed 78.6 percent of her free throw attempts (11-of-14). The 6-1 junior point guard from Brockville, Ontario, Canada, scored 13 points vs. Texas and contributed eight assists and four rebounds. At Baylor Dales scored a career-high 28 points, including six points to seal the victory in the final two minutes of action. She also had eight assists, four rebounds and shot 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the field.
