LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball program invites fans to participate in the annual "Take a Kid to the Game" day on Sat., Feb. 2, as it takes on Texas A&M at 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
Kids, ages 14 and under, can purchase a $1 general admission ticket to watch the Lady Raiders play the Aggies.
"We are excited to offer this promotion to our fans," said head coach Kristy Curry. "We hope that our fans and alumni will take part in this promotion and give the youth in our community a chance to experience the game day atmosphere at the United Spirit Arena."
The Lady Raiders are hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation as part of the "Take a Kid to the Game" (TAKG) program, which is in its 11th season. The project is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation's youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.
Youth will have the opportunity to experience the college game day atmosphere and some exciting action as they watch the Lady Raiders take on the Aggies.
Fans who attend the men's basketball game at 1 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 2, against Oklahoma State can redeem their ticket from the men's game for a free general admission ticket to the women's game that evening.
The official mascot of the NCAA, JJ Jumper, will be in attendance at the game and will be making appearance throughout each timeout as well as halftime. There will be giveaways and opportunities for kids to interact with JJ Jumper.
