LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech begins the second half of Big 12 Conference play on Saturday when it heads north to Ames, Iowa to take on No. 23/22 Iowa State at 1 p.m. CT at Hilton Coliseum.
Saturday's game will be second meeting between the two schools this season. Iowa State won the first meeting in Lubbock on Jan. 5, 58-54. The Cyclones lead the overall series 11-10 and 7-2 in Ames.
Tech (16-5, 6-3 Big 12) is looking to continue its success on the road this season in conference play. The Lady Raiders have won their last two Big 12 road trips (West Virginia and Texas) and are 3-1 on the road in conference play this year. They are looking for their first road win in Ames since 2002.
"I think we look at it just like any other game," Texas Tech head coach Kristy Curry said. "Our experiences have prepared us to go into that environment. Winning at West Virginia, at Texas and at Oklahoma State - those are great experiences to draw from."
Iowa State (14-5, 5-4) is coming off an overtime loss Wednesday night at Kansas (78-75) and has lost three of its last four games. The Cyclones are 10-1 at home this season with its only loss coming to No. 1 Baylor, who beat Tech on Wednesday night in Lubbock.
Senior guard Chynna Brown continues to pace the Lady Raiders in Big 12 play, averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Brown has scored in double figures in nine of her last 10 games and has seven rebounds or more in five of her last eight games. Her 10 points on Wednesday night brings her career total to 923 points.
Tech found success on the perimeter last time out against Iowa State, led by Brown and Casey Morris' 19 and 13 points, respectively. The senior duo combined to go 7 of 16 behind the arc, but Iowa State dominated in the paint, 22-8, behind Hallie Christofferson and Brynn Williamson as the team shot 56.4 percent from the field.
Tech will return home on Wed., Feb. 6 for its "Think Pink" game against West Virginia (12-8, 4-5). Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at www.TexasTech.com/tickets or by calling (806) 742-8324.
