DALLAS - Texas Tech's Jia Perkins was honored as Big 12 Rookie of the Week and Oklahoma State's Kara Faulk was named Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week in a vote of a media panel for games played Jan. 29-Feb. 4.

Perkins, a 5-8 freshman guard, averaged 23.5 points and 3.5 rebounds to lead Texas Tech to victories over Kansas State and Texas A&M. Against KSU, she scored a career-high 27 points as she sank a career-high six three-point baskets. Perkins then came back against Texas A&M and poured in 20 points, while dishing out seven assists. It marked the first time this season that she has recorded 20 or more points in back-to-back games. On the week, the Granbury, Texas, native shot 64.3 percent from the field (18-of-28), 66.7 percent from the three-point line (6-of-9) and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (5-of-6). Perkins leads the Lady Raiders in scoring with a 13.7 average and a 15.0 average in conference games only. She also leads Tech in assists with 81 and steals with 53. Perkins has scored in double figures in 15 of 20 games, including four games of 20 or more points.

Faulk averaged 21 points and 10.5 rebounds last week in leading Oklahoma State to wins over No. 20 Baylor and Kansas State. The 5-11 junior forward shot 48.3 percent (14-of-29) from the floor, 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from behind the three-point arc and 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the free throw line. Faulk tied her career-high with 24 points against Baylor and picked up her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds at K-State. The Sapulpa, Okla., native played in 75 of 85 minutes in the two games despite nagging back and hip injuries.
