LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced on Thursday that five Lady Raiders were selected among the 38 student-athletes on its 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Teams.
Redshirt freshman Minta Spears, sophomore Kellyn Schneider, junior transfer Audrisa Harrison and senior Haley Schneider all earned First Team honors for the first time while senior Shauntal Nobles earned a Second Team selection for the fourth consecutive year.
"It's great to see your players rewarded for the hard work they do both on the court and in the classroom," Tech head coach Candi Whitaker said. "These five girls put in a lot of extra time in both areas and are great representatives for Texas Tech."
Texas Tech and Kansas State each had the second-most First Team members with four. A total of 24 members make up the First Team, while the Second Team includes 14 honorees.
First Team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the Second Team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
