LUBBOCK, Texas -- After the weekend the Lady Raiders had in Lubbock on Feb. 15-17, who wouldn't want a week off?
Texas Tech celebrated its 20th anniversary of its 1993 national championship and completed its first season sweep of Texas since 2006 with a 69-62 win at United Spirit Arena.
Now the Lady Raiders get back to work and head to Lawrence, Kan., for its second bout with the Jayhawks this season, looking to complete its fourth sweep and win its fifth road game this season at 12 p.m. Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse.
The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports Net (FOX Sports Southwest in Lubbock.)
Tech (19-7, 9-5 Big 12) is off to its best start in eight years and best under head coach Kristy Curry, who won her ninth Big 12 Conference game on Sunday - the most in a season for the Lady Raiders under Curry. Tech went 8-8 in Big 12 play in 2010-11 on its way to the NCAA Tournament.
The Lady Raiders beat Kansas (16-9, 7-7) earlier this season in Lubbock, 70-63.
Tech will return home on Wednesday to take on No. 23/22 Oklahoma State (18-7, 7-7) at 7 p.m. at United Spirit Arena.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Chynna Brown, SR., GUARD
Brown scored 16 points in Sunday's win for her 18th overall game in double digits this season and became the newest member of Texas Tech's 1,000-point club. She joins teammate Casey Morris as the second Lady Raider to accomplish the feat this season. Brown has scored in double figures 14 times in the last 15 games and is averaging 15.6 points in Big 12 play (No. 4 in Big 12). Brown also had a career-high four steals in the win.
