Seals Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week for Third Time

LUBBOCK, Texas - For the third time this season, Texas Tech's Dominic Seals was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, by a media voting panel for games Feb. 18-24. Seals averaged 18.5 points and seven rebounds while shooting 68.2 percent from the field and 77.8 percent from the charity stripe in Texas Tech's two wins last week. The Dallas, Texas, native had 16 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, two steals and an assist against Kansas. She shot 60 percent from the field (6-of-10) and 80 percent from the free throw line (4-of-5) versus the Jayhawks. Against Nebraska, the 6-2 junior forward poured in a game-high 21 points and added seven rebounds, a block and a steal as she shot 75 percent from the field (9-of-12) and 75 percent from the free throw line (3-of-4). Seals marked her 19th and 20th double-digit scoring games of the season. On the year, she leads Tech in scoring at 14.1 points per game and in rebounding at 8.6. Seals is also shooting a team-high 51.3 percent from the field and is shooting 73.5 percent from the free throw line. She has a team-high 36 blocks as well. Texas A&M's Danielle Gant picked up the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for games Feb. 18-24.
