LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech seniors Melinda Schmucker-Pharies and Aleah Johnson, sophomore Amber Tarr and sophomore Tanisha Ellison were named to the academic All-Big 12 teams, released Monday by the Big 12 office in Dallas.

The 2000 women's basketball academic all-league squad consists of 33 first-team members with 12 on the second-team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average, while the second-team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.

Schmucker-Pharies, an elementary education major from Nazareth, Texas, Johnson, a human development major from Carrollton, Texas, and Tarr, a sophomore finance major from Ozona, Texas, earned first team recognition. Ellison, a communication studies major from Houston, Texas, garnered second-team honors.
