Lady Raiders Face Pennsylvania in NCAA First Round|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Committee announced the field for the 2001 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament this afternoon, selecting the Texas Tech Lady Raiders as the No. 2 seed in the Mideast Regional. The Lady Raiders face No. 15-seed Pennsylvania in first-round action at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock. Play is slated for Friday and Sunday. Times have yet to be announced.
In addition to the Lady Raiders and Quakers, No. 7-seed Virginia Tech and No. 10-seed Denver will make the trip to Lubbock. The event will be the fourth-straight NCAA sub-regional hosted by Texas Tech.
The winner of the sub-regional will advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Birmingham, Ala., next weekend. The University of Tennessee is the No. 1 seed in the Mideast Region.
Tickets for the sub-regional will go on sale Mon., March 12, at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $25 for the tournament and can be purchased at the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at the north end of Jones SBC Stadium. All seats in the lower level of the arena will be reserved, including the south end sections, while all seats in the upper level will be general admission.
