LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Marsha Sharp has announced that freshman point guard Courtney Pastner has decided not to return to Texas Tech next fall.

Pastner, a native of Kingwood, Texas, saw action in 19 of the 33 games last season with an average of 7.8 minutes a game. She finished the year averaging 1.1 points and 0.7 rebounds a game, while dishing out a season-total nine assists and compiling six steals.

"I enjoyed my past year at Texas Tech but feel it is in my best interest to pursue a new opportunity," said Pastner. "I learned a great deal from coach Sharp and have enjoyed being a part of the Texas Tech program."

"This was Courtney's decision and she feels this was the best thing for her," said Sharp. "She did a great job for our program. We really wish her the best of luck."

Sharp does not expect to utilize the open scholarship in the upcoming school year.
