LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech University has announced the hosting of the Four in the Fall Classic, a four-team women's basketball doubleheader to take place in the United Spirit Arena Sat., Nov. 20. Along with the Lady Raiders, UCLA, Louisiana State and North Carolina will be participating in the event.

The Four in the Fall Classic, a product of a partnership between Host Communications and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, was first held last season in San Jose, Calif. One of the requirements is that the four teams must have been ranked in the final 1998-99 USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Poll and the other is holding a Girls and Women's Symposium committed to developing self-esteem for seventh-graders.

Last season, all four teams advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 with UCLA making to the Elite Eight. The Bruins finished the year ranked seventh in the final USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Poll, while Tech was ninth and UNC and LSU were 15th and 16th, respectively.

The pairings for the games will be determined by a fan vote with details to be announced at a later date. Both games are scheduled to be televised live nationally on the Lifetime network at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
