LUBBOCK, Texas - Lady Raider fans can start marking their calendars - the season begins Nov. 4.

The Texas Tech women's basketball program announced its 2012-13 schedule on Monday. The Lady Raiders will play 12 non-conference contests before beginning Big 12 Conference play in January.

Fans can also mark down a special game on Sunday, Feb. 17 against Texas, where the 1993 National Championship team members and coaches will return to Lubbock for a weekend-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of Tech's NCAA title.

Tech will gear up for the regular season with a home exhibition game on Nov. 4 against Midwestern State before heading out on the road the following week to open the regular season on Nov. 11 against Pac-12 foe Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. It is one of two consecutive road contests as Tech continues its annual meeting against New Mexico on Nov. 15 in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Lady Raiders will play their regular season home opener on Nov. 18 against Lipscomb University - the first of seven consecutive home games, including their annual Basketball Travelers Invitational on Thanksgiving weekend. Tech will face Southern Utah, New Orleans and Nicholls State.

The final month of non-conference play begins on Dec. 1 against Lamar, followed by a two more matchups with Illinois (Dec. 5) and Northern Colorado (Dec. 16).

Then it's off to Las Vegas for the holidays to play in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic where the Lady Raiders will play two games against Michigan State (Dec. 20) and Oregon State (Dec. 21).

Tech returns to Lubbock to play its final 2012 contest on Dec. 30 against Houston.

The Lady Raiders begin Big 12 Conference play on Jan. 2 in Stillwater against Oklahoma State, followed by their Big 12 home opener against Iowa State on Jan. 5 and Kansas State on Jan. 9.

Tech faces back-to-back road games against Oklahoma (Jan. 12) and Texas (Jan. 16) before the Jayhawks come to Lubbock on Jan. 19. Then its off to Morgantown, W. Va., to play the first Big 12 Conference game between the Lady Raiders and Mountaineers on Jan. 22, followed by a home contest on Jan. 26 to welcome former Southwest Conference foe TCU to the Big 12.

Defending national champion Baylor will play the first of two contests against Tech beginning on Jan. 30 in Lubbock, followed a trip to Iowa State on Feb. 2 and a second contest with West Virginia on Feb. 6. Tech will then head to Waco and the DFW Metroplex on Feb. 9 and 12 to take on Baylor and TCU, respectively, on their home courts.

The 20th anniversary celebration weekend and Texas game will be on Feb. 16 before Tech gets a week off to prepare for a weekend trip to Kansas to face the Jayhawks on Feb. 24. Tech will finish the regular season with two home games against Oklahoma State (Feb. 27) and Oklahoma (March 4) split with a road contest against Kansas State on March 2.

Times will be announced later on toward the start of the season.

Non-Conference Notes:

-       Three non-conference opponents made it to the 2012 postseason:

  • Michigan State, NCAA First Round
  • Oregon State, WNIT Sweet 16
  • Arizona State, WNIT First Round

-       Tech and Arizona State will face off for the first time since 2007 (Texas Tech 73, Arizona State 69 - Lubbock).

-       Tech has a 17-game win streak against non-conference opponents.

-       Tech has a 42-game home win streak against non-conference opponents that dates back to 2007.

-       Tech is 34-3 all-time in home openers, 6-0 under Kristy Curry.
