ESPOO, Finland - Despite five players scoring in double figures, the Big 12 Women's Basketball All-Star team lost, 91-87, to the Finnish National Team in the final game of the Espoo Tournament for both teams here Sunday afternoon. The All-Stars finish with a 2-1 record, as does the Finlanders.

The Finnish team took an early 21-5 lead just five minutes into the game with a series of fastbreak layups. The All-Stars had a hard time controlling the trio of Taru Tuukkanen, Michaela Moua and Heli Roukanoja, which had 50 of the Finns 56 first-half points. Tuukkanen plays for Xavier in the United States, while Moua plays at Ohio State during the school year.

The Finlanders increased the lead to 17 in the second half on two occasions, the last being at the 9:57 mark. That's when the All-Stars, led by Oklahoma State's Jennifer Crow and Kansas' Jaclyn Johnson, made a 21-4 run over the next 5-1/2 minutes, tying the game at 80-80.

"We started looking inside, where I was open all day," said Johnson, when asked about the difference in the second half. "They couldn't hold any of our post players inside. The inside-outside game was there, we started going to it, and we started getting buckets."

The Finns scored nine of their 11 final points from the free-throw line, shooting 26-of-29 from the stripe for the game. Both teams shot 50 percent for the game from the floor, as the All-Stars shot 16-of-26 in the second half.

"It seemed like, in the first half, we weren't ready to play," said Crow. "We came out really dead. They kept scoring on the inside, so when we went to a zone, they couldn't get the ball inside and they were missing all the outside shots. That was how we came back."

The Big 12 All-Stars (2-1) will play the Finland Under-20 National Team on Tuesday, August 10, at 9:30 p.m. in Helsinki, Finland.
