LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 All-Stars are 2-1 after their first three of six games of their European tour of Finland and Sweden. The All-Stars defeated the Tapiolan Honka TopCats, 88-72, and Chevakata of Russia, 82-73, before losing to the Finnish National Team, 91-87, in the Espoo Tournament in Espoo, Finland August 6-8.

Texas Tech's senior guard Melinda Schmuker has played in all three games contributing 14 points, including three three-point baskets. Schmuker also had a team-high three steals in the victory over Chevakata.

In the first game against Tapiolan Honka, Iowa State's Megan Taylor paced the All-Stars with 16 points, while Texas' JoRuth Woods and Kansas' Jaclyn Johnson scored 14 and 12 points, respectively. Taylor also led the team with six rebounds.

Against Chevakata, Oklahoma's Phylesha Whaley scored 21 points and Woods added 15 in the All-Stars nine-point win. Whaley added 13 boards to her 21 points for the first double-double of the tour. Tech's Schmuker tallied seven points, including on three-point basket to go along with her three steals.

Despite the loss in the final game of the tournament, the All-Stars had five players score in double figures led by Johnson and Oklahoma State's Jennifer Crow, who each scored 15 points. Schmucker also had seven points in this game, going 2-for-2 from three-point range.

The Big 12 All-Stars will play the Finland Under-20 National Team on Tuesday, August 10 in Helsinki, Finland.
