Day 1 - Vancouver, Canada|
Aug. 8, 2010
Hey Lady Raider fans!
Day one of our Canadian adventure is complete. The day started early with our flight from Lubbock to Albuquerque, N.M., at 7:45 am. We had about a two-hour layover there. Most of us used that time to get something to eat before our three-hour flight to Seattle. I chose to catch up on some sleep during those three hours. Mostly everyone slept, listened to music, or read a book. We were all excited when we finally landed. We knew we were getting closer!
Next we had a four-hour bus ride to Vancouver. It actually only takes about three hours, but we hit traffic and had to make it through customs at the border. Crossing the border is no simple task. After waiting in line for about 30 minutes, we all took our passports and customs papers into a building where our information was checked. Customs officers looked at the bus while we were inside. Luckily we all made it through without any hassle and were back on the bus in no time.
Before we knew it we were rolling into Vancouver! Downtown is beautiful. Our hotel is right on the water and has a spectacular view. Haley (my roommate) and I were lucky and have a room with this great view! We all are extremely lucky and blessed to be in such a nice area. Not to mention our delicious dinner. It was great to sit down as a family with some of our fans and have a great meal. We ate at Joe Forte's, which is a seafood and chophouse restaurant. I am not a seafood lover, so I chose the steak, but I was told the salmon was unreal! It was a great way to end the day. Well, our long day has come to an end but we are excited for tomorrow. Tomorrow holds some sightseeing and our first game later in the evening. We definitely plan to let Vancouver know that the Lady Raiders are in town!
Thanks for your undying support,
