Sept. 15, 2009

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's basketball coaches Kristy and Kelly Curry took part in the second annual Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund 4KayTM Golf Classic presented by Nike in Greensboro, N.C., Sept. 13-14.

This year's edition was hosted at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro. All proceeds benefitted the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, in partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research. This year the event raised over $175,000 for women's cancers research.

The celebration began with a charity auction and gala on Sunday night and Monday morning saw 39 foursomes kick-off an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on the Grandover East and West courses. The format was a four-player captain's choice, with separate tournaments on the East and West courses. Awards and Nike prize merchandise, including golf bags, putters, sunglasses and apparel were presented to each of the top three teams as well as to winners of the longest drive, closet to the pin and longest putt. The day ended with an awards luncheon.

The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund is a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Donations can be made at www.JimmyV.org or by calling 1-800-4JimmyV. All donations are tax deductible. For more information, visit www.wbca.org/kayyowwbcacancerfund.asp.
