LUBBOCK, Texas - Coach Marsha Sharp and the Lady Raiders participated in the 5th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure today in Lubbock.

The race featured over 3400 runners and raised more than $120,000. Following the race runners were treated to food and music by the Community Baptist Church Choir. A special ceremony was held honoring those women who have survived the deadly disease.

Marsha Sharp has been a strong voice in the community when it comes to fighting cancer. Sharp is very active in the Coaches vs. Cancer program and ranks in the top ten nationally each year for money raised by a collegiate coach. She was joined today by her staff and team as all participated in the race.

Race for the Cure is sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation and J.C. Penney. The event is used to raise money to research and find a cure for breast cancer.
