LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders won their first exhibition game of the season in a 73-42 triumph over Delta Kosice of Slovakia.

Tech got off to a slow start and the win came despite a less-than-average night of shooting, as the Lady Raiders hit 30 of 64 shots for a 45.5 percent from the field and only 35.7 percent from the free throw line (10-of-28).

Making a difference for the Lady Raiders was freshman Jia Perkins who was the spark plug for the team as she came off the bench to score 14 points and grab five rebounds in 24 minutes of action. Perkins also added four assists while not committing a turnover.

Junior Tanisha Ellison also scored 14 point and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, while sophomore Plenette Pierson added 12 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Also scoring in double figures was freshman Dionne Brown with 10 points. Junior Candi White added four assists.

Tech will conclude its exhibition season next Wednesday, Nov. 15 as it takes on the Houston Jaguars at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena.
