LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team is doing a few community service projects this holiday season to give back to the Lubbock community. Community service plays a big role in the Lady Raider basketball program.

"We really enjoy getting out and giving back to a community that gives so much to us," said head coach Kristy Curry. "As a basketball family we are blessed and if we can do something to make someone else's holiday a little brighter, we want to do so."

Their week started off with ringing bells at Salvation Army stations throughout Lubbock. The Lady Raiders collected donations for two hours on Monday afternoon.

Next the team visited UMC Children's Hospital to visit the patients, take them gifts, make holiday cookies and play games with the children.

Tech concluded the week with making a donation to the Women's Protective Services of Lubbock. The Lady Raiders joined efforts to give gifts to the women and children at the shelter.
