Texas Tech Announces First Women's Golf Signee of 1997-98

Red Raiders land Bryan High School standout

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech University women's golf team has signed Bryan High School's Jennifer Newhouse, head coach Jeff Mitchell said today.

The winner of more than 15 high school and summer event golf tournaments over the past two years, Newhouse is a three-time all-district selection. She has qualified twice for the United States Girls' Junior Amateur Championship.

"She is one of the top players in the state," Mitchell said. "She will be a strong candidate to win the 5A state championship."

Newhouse is a 4.0 student and ranks in the top five percent among her senior class.
