Nebraska Cruises To Victory In Big 12 Fall Preview
Lady Raiders finish eighth; Lowrance ties for 15th
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Nebraska, after leading by 25 strokes after the first two rounds, cruised to an 18-shot victory over host Texas A&M in the Big 12 Fall Preview women's golf tournament.
Nebraska, firing rounds of 300-296-313, placed three players among the top 10 in the first-ever Big 12 Conference event. Hanna Nyquist paced Nebraska with rounds of 77-70-77=224 to finish third on the par-72, 6,130-yard Pebble Creek Country Club.
Nebraska's three-round 909 easily outdistanced A&M's 927. Missouri was third at 938, Kansas State fourth at 940 and Oklahoma State fifth at 943. Texas Tech finished eighth at 950.
Baylor's Mary Coleman Hornsby won a playoff for medalist honors after rounds of 76-74-73. She defeated A&M's Jamie Hullett, who fired rounds of 73-77-73. Tech's Brooke Lowrance tied for 15th at 233, shooting rounds of 84-74-75. Texas' Kelli Kuehne tied for 20th with rounds of 80-77-79.
Other Tech finishers included Tamara Parker who tied for 25th, Beth Covington in a tie for 32nd, Amy Marsh at a tie for 41st and Kristin Kight, who finished 55th.TEAM TOTALS
