RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- Texas Tech sophomore Kimmy Hill birdied two of her final four holes to finish with a 2-under par 70 on Monday and move into a tie for ninth as the Lady Raiders climbed a spot at the 2014 Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Resort and Country Club.
Tech shaved 12 strokes from the first round with a 7-over 295 on Monday, giving Tech a two-day total of 602.
No. 59 Tech is just one shot behind No. 25 Kent State and only four shots behind No. 7 Alabama. No. 8 Arkansas leads all teams at 571.
Hill was one of just five players to birdie the par-4, 9th in the 81-person field in the last two days. She then went on to birdie No. 10 before finishing her round with two pars to stay in the top 10 individually.
The 9th hole is played as the toughest hole on Monday with an average score of 4.58.
Senior Hannah Arnold redeemed herself with a 2-over 74 on Monday with three birdies after an 80 on Sunday, while junior Elin Arvidsson carded a 3-over 75 for the second consecutive day. Junior Stephanie Bertelsen also shaved two strokes with 4-over 76 to round out the counting scores.
Redshirt freshman Victoria Uresti improved from her first round as well with an 80.
