RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- Texas Tech sophomore Kimmy Hill fired a 1-over 73 to help push the Lady Raiders up another spot into 11th place in the final round of the 2014 Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Resort and Country Club on Tuesday.
Hill ended the tournament with a 1-over 217 (74-70-73) and tied for eighth place. It was her third top-10 finish since the start of the fall. She once again found a way to birdie two of the course toughest holes (Nos. 2 and 12 - both playing over par this week) but had two bogeys in her final five holes to finish just outside the top five.
Elin Arvidsson finished in a tie for 27th 9-over (75-75-75--225) after her third consecutive 75 on Tuesday. The junior from Sweden finished the week 1-under on the back nine with birdies on five different holes.
Junior Stephanie Bertelsen duplicated her first round with another 78 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 56th (78-76-78--232) while Hannah Arnold and Victoria Uresti ended the tournament in a tie for 69th and 79th, respectively.
Tech will take the next week off from tournament play before heading to Miami, Fla., for the Hurricane Invitational at the Biltmore Course, March 3-5.
