LUBBOCK, Texas - In its first appearance ever at the Central Regional Invitational in Parrish, Fla., the Texas Tech women's golf team are tied in 13th place after shooting a 624 in the first round of play.

Leading the Red Raiders is Senior Jennifer Newhouse who shot a five-over par 149 (78, 71) to tie in 11th place, just one stroke short of placing in the top 10.

Teammates Jackie Ey and Megan Hull are tied in 36th place with each shooting a 10-over par 154. Freshmen Kim Kolb and Sheila Mendez struggled in the first day of competition placing 71st and 72nd, respectively.

Final round of play will resume tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the River Wilderness Country Club. The Red Raiders will hit the road next week to compete in the Texas A&M "Mo"morial tournament in Bryan, Texas.
