LUBBOCK, Texas - Hannah Arnold and Kim Kaufman both finished under-par over 36 holes Saturday to lead 11th-ranked Texas Tech during the first two rounds of the Notre Dame Clover Cup held at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
After being rained out on Friday, the pair led the Lady Raiders into fourth place entering Sunday's final round as Tech combined to shoot a 13-over 589 that is one stroke back of Northwestern for third place and six back of SMU in second.
Oklahoma took a commanding opening-day lead with a 6-under 570 that was boosted by a 7-under 281 opening round. It was one of only three under-par cards in the 16-team field.
Arnold wrapped the day in a tie for fifth after a 2-under 70 in the morning and then an even-par 72 later in the day. She is four strokes back of leader Jenny Haglund of SMU, who finished 6-under on the day thanks in part to a 67 second round.
Kaufman, meanwhile, is a stroke back in ninth place as she recovered from a 74 opening round to shoot a 69 in the afternoon. The second-ranked player in the country will look for her sixth top-10 finish already this year Sunday as she is 1-under for the tournament.
Elin Arvidsson is the only other Lady Raider in contention as she is tied for 19th overall after 72 and 76 cards. Gabby Dominguez and Beverly Mendoza completed Tech's day with 12-over and 13-over combined scores.
The final round is set for 9 a.m. CT shotgun start Sunday morning. Fans can keep up with the results throughout the day at www.golfstat.com.
