LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team successfully defended its Mountain View Collegiate Invitational title Saturday as the 13th-ranked Lady Raiders held on for a one-stroke victory at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.

The Lady Raiders edged San Jose State to win the tournament title for the second-straight season. It was also the third victory for Tech this year, which matches the school's single-season record from the 1993-94 campaign.

"This was a great win for us and the perfect way to end our 10-day Spring Break trip," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "The team has been steady all year and it was good to see each player put together some good rounds this week."

Gabby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman paced the Lady Raiders over the final 18 holes as the two seniors both fired under-par rounds. Dominguez led all players with a 5-under 67 while Kaufman shot a 2-under 70 final round.

The performance put Dominguez in sole possession of second overall, her highest finish this season, and Kaufman in a tie for her third. It was the seventh time in eight events this year where Kaufman, the current No. 2 player in the nation, had finished among the top-five individuals.

Beverly Mendoza and Elin Arvidsson completed Tech's card with 2-over final rounds. Mendoza was Tech's third player to finish among the top 10 as she tied for 10th while Arvidsson wrapped the tournament in a tie for 23rd overall.

Hannah Arnold, who combined to shoot even-par over the first two rounds, finished with a 6-over final round card to drop into a tie for 29th overall.

Tech combined to shoot a 3-under 285 final round that was the second-lowest team total on the day. San Jose State fired a 6-under card to push the Lady Raiders during the back nine while third-place Texas State also shot a 1-under score.

The Lady Raiders will return to the links in just over two weeks for the Challenge at Onion Creak on April 1-2 in Austin, Texas.
