LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech fired a third-round 297 to move into a final third-place tie with 11th-ranked New Mexico at the Pioneer Electronics UCLA Bruin Classic in Santa Clarita, Calif.

Top-ranked Pepperdine won the event followed by fifth-ranked Southern California in second. Other ranked teams finishing behind Tech and New Mexico were No. 8 California in fifth, 13th-ranked UCLA in seventh and 23rd-ranked New Mexico State in eighth.

Sheila Mendez (El Paso, Texas/Franklin) led the Lady Raiders with a tie in fourth place after firing a final round 70 and finishing two shots off of the lead. Kim Kolb (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) and Jackie Ey (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill) finished tied in 15th and 18th places, while Megan Hull (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) and Hazel Tan (Sarasota, Fla./Bradenton Academy) finished tied in 52nd and 76th places.

The tournament marked the first time this season that Texas Tech has beaten or tied three top 25 teams. The Lady Raiders are ranked 52nd in the latest Golstat.com poll.

Pepperdine's Katherine Hull, the nation's top-ranked golfer, and USC's Mikaela Parmlid shared co-medalist honors.
