NORMAN, Okla. - The Texas Tech women's golf team wrapped up its final tournament of the spring season today at the Susie Maxwell Classic in Norman, Okla. The Red Raiders moved up three spots to finish in seventh place carding a final round of 299 for a three-round total of 928 (313, 316). Tournament host Oklahoma University surpassed the rest of the competition shooting a 13-over par 877 (294, 292, 291) to take both the team and individual titles.

Stephanie Dukes tied with teammate Jennifer Newhouse in making the top 20 for the fourth time this season. The 5-foot-8 junior shot a 13-over-par 229 (77, 77, 75) to finish in a three-way tie for 15th while Newhouse rounded out the top 25 in a tie for 24th with a 16-over-par 232 (76, 80, 76).

Freshmen Megan Hull and Kim Kolb finished in the tourney's top 50 with Hull shooting a 17-over-par 233 (78, 76, 79) to tie in 26th place. Kolb carded her lowest round of the season of 73 for a 54-hole score of 238 (82, 83, 73), good for a tie in 40th place. Sophomore Jackie Ey moved up the boards in the second round to sit in a two-way for 62nd shooting a three-round total of 244 (86, 83, 75).

In spite of being a young team with three underclassmen this season, the players have been playing their hearts out.

"The girls have shown in the past two weeks what they can do and what they are capable of doing," coach Stacey Totman said. "They have been playing with a lot of confidence. I think they can play well and do some good things at the Big 12 Championship to help the team in the postseason."

The women's golf team will travel to Manhattan, Kan., to take on top-ranked conference opponents April 19-21 at the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship.
