LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders have a tough road ahead as the team struggled in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship at The Rawls Course.

Despite the team's current position of 12th place after shooting a 326, senior Megan Dowdy leads the Lady Raiders in a tie for 11th. The senior shot a four-over 77 in the first round. Dowdy struggled on the front nine carding a 4-over 40 but played even par the rest of the way in.

Rosalyn Kim finished at seven-over on the day to sit in a tie for 28th. The theme continued as Kim had six bogeys on the front nine, but recovered on the back with a 1-over 38.

Alex Gibson is tied for 49th after a 10-over 83 and Gloriana Soto is tied for 57th with a 13-over 86. Jackie Smith sits in 60th after carding a 15-over 88.

Oklahoma State is leading the championship after posting a three-over 295 as a team. Texas A&M (304) is second and Kansas State (311) is third. The Lady Raiders only sit 15 strokes back of Kansas State heading into Saturday's play.

The Lady Raiders will tee off of No. 10 at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. The public is invited to come out as admission is free. Live results of the tournament can be found at www.big12sports.com or www.golfstat.com.
