Red Raiders Complete First Tournament

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Texas Tech wrapped up their first competition of the fall with a 17th-place finish at the Dick McGuire Invitational. The team struggled to continue their pace from the second round and completed the event with a 25-over 317 in the final round. The Red Raiders turned in rounds of 312-301-317--930.
Freshman Rosalyn Kim was the top finisher for the Raiders, as she tied for 53rd with rounds of 76-72-82--230. Shooting the best round of the day for Tech was Gloriana Soto, who carded a 4-over 76 in the third round to move up 12 places and finish 68th. Tracy Stanford finished with a 16-over 235 to end in 68th place. Megan Dowdy fired her lowest round of the tournament with a 5-over 78 to tie for 73rd. Melissa Fahey tied for 76th with a 238. Ulrika Van Neikerk competed as an individual and finished in 88th place.
Arizona State came in as the top team, and went away as the victor, firing 294-281-294--869 (-7). Catherine Matranga of TCU took the individual title with rounds of 71-73-70--214.
Tech next competes at their home tournament, which takes place at the Rawls Course. Play gets started on Monday with the first 36 holes. For complete coverage, please check www.texastech.com after each day of competition.
