ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech University women's golf team is in 14th place after the first round of the Jones Intercable/Dick McGuire Golf Tournament.

The Red Raiders shot a 31-over-par 323. TCU shot 10-over 302 and leads by two shots over Southern California (304) and UCLA. Texas (309) is fifth, Oklahoma State (314) 10th, Texas A&M (319) 12th and Oklahoma (329) 16th. Junior Jamie Vannoy shot a 7-over-par 80 to tie for 41st after the first round on the par 73, 6,069-yard University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course. Senior Brooke Lowrance, sophomore Priscillia Hunt and junior Alana Soliz each shot rounds of 8-over 81 to tie for 50th. Senior Beth Covington is in a tie for 73rd after a 10-over 83.

The tournament continues on Friday with the second round. The 54-hole format concludes on Saturday with the 18-hole final round. 14
