ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech women's golf team completed the first round of play Thursday with a 310 to round out at the number 10 spot in the 24th Annual Comcast/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.

Tournament host University of New Mexico (297) leads the first round by only one stroke over the University of New Mexico State (298), while University of Washington (300) trails three strokes behind UNM.

Sophomore Megan Hull (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) leads the Red Raiders after shooting an even par 73 to tie in seventh place. Freshman Calais Gardner (Argyle, Texas/Southlake Carroll) sits in a tie with eight other players at 24th with a three-over-par 76.

The El Paso, Texas, native Sheila Mendez wrapped up the first day of competition with a seven-over-par 80 to tie for 52nd. Teammates Kim Kolb and Jackie Ey are tied in 60th place with 13 other players at eight-over-par 81.

The second round of play continues Friday morning at 8 a.m. on the par 73, 6,069 yards, UNM Championship Course.
