Women's Golf Finishes 15th at Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Texas Tech women's golf team finished the 24th Annual Comcast/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., at the No. 15 spot with a three-round total of 957 (310-323-324). The University of New Mexico dominated the field all three days, capturing its second consecutive team title with a 297-292-302-891. The University of Washington, trailing behind UNM throughout the tournament, finished eight strokes back to tie for second with Pepperdine University. Leading the Red Raiders sophomore Kim Kolb finished with an 81-73-76-230 total to tie for 26th and claimed her second career-best finish. Teammate Megan Hull continued to struggle in the final round shooting a 73-83-84-240 to tie in 58th place with three other players. Newcomer Calais Gardner of Argyle, Texas, completed her first tournament as a Red Raider with a 76-84-85-245 to tie for 76th. Sophomore Sheila Mendez shot a consecutive round of 83 on the day to sit in a three-way tie at 246. The San Antonio, Texas, native Jackie Ey shot an 81-88-81-250 to tie in 90th place. Katherine Hull of Pepperdine and Lisa Meldrum of the University of Oklahoma finished at eight-under-par 211 to share individual medalist honors. Washington's Paige MacKenzie and Rachel Bailey of New Mexico State University tied for third at one-under-par 218. Tech returns for a one-week break before heading back to New Mexico, Oct. 7-9, to compete in the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by New Mexico State University.
