Lady Raiders Three Stroke Off Lead at Las Vegas Showdown

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team shot a 283, the second best 18-hole score in team history, to end the first day of competition three strokes back of the lead at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown held at Las Vegas, Nev.

Junior Rosalyn Kim paced the Lady Raiders in the opening round with a three-under 69. She sits in a tie for eighth place after 18 holes and the 69 is the best round Kim has had on the season.

Sophomore Alex Gibson and senior Ulrika Van Niekerk are one-stroke behind Kim as both shot a two-under 70. Sophomore Jackie Smith shot a two-over 74 and is in a tie for 51st place. Senior Megan Dowdy is right behind Smith as she carded a three-over 75.

Louisville and Pepperdine lead the tournament with an eight-under 280 and UNLV and Oklahoma State are tied for third carding a six-under 282.

The Lady Raiders begin the second round of competition at 7:30 a.m.
