Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at New Mexico State November 1, 1998
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Texas Tech University women's golf team finished fourth in the 1998 Diet Coke-Roadrunner Invitational to conclude the fall season. The Red Raiders shot a final-round 18-over-par 306 to finish fourth at 60-over 924, only 10 shots back from first-place New Mexico State (914) and TCU. Host New Mexico State won the team title in a playoff. In an 18-team field that included seven Big 12 Conference schools, Baylor (919) finished third in the 54-hole tournament at the par 72, 6,117-yard University Golf Course. Missouri (926) finished fourth, Colorado (933) seventh, Kansas (940) ninth, Oklahoma (953) 10th, and Kansas State (982) 15th. Texas Tech junior Jamie Vannoy tied for sixth at 11-over 227. She finished with a 4-over 76 on Sunday. TCU's Angela Stanford, the only player to shoot even-par over the three days, claimed a five-shot victory at 216 thanks to a 1-under 71 Sunday. Freshman Jennifer Newhouse (233) tied for 18th, while senior Brooke Lowrance (234) tied for 24th. Sophomore Priscillia Hunt (237) tied for 33rd. Junior Heather Wrede (240) tied for 40th. Junior Alana Soliz (242), playing as an individual, tied for 50th.
