IN HER OWN WORDS: KIM KAUFMAN
Senior Kim Kaufman will be remembered as one of the best women's golfers at Texas Tech for quite some time. She rose to the No. 1 ranking earlier this season and will go down with a 74.0 scoring average - just .01 better than teammate and fellow senior Gabby Dominguez for the all-time record at Texas Tech.
Kaufman, although disappointed she would not make a return trip to the NCAA Championship this season after finishing as an All-American in 2012, did take a great memory away from the 2013 NCAA Central Regional - her first hole in one in 10 years.
"Well, my plan was to hit it about ten feet left - to the center of the green...but as soon as I hit it, I knew I pushed it a bit but it was right on line with the pin and was holding straight so I knew I was going to get away with it. I watched it land right next to the other girls ball, and before I knew it it just disappeared into the hole. It was one of those times where you weren't really sure of what you saw or how to react. It was great to have Emily there because the other girls in my group were less than enthusiastic. Most importantly, it was so nice to have our media guy and a photographer there because the only ever hole in one during a post season round by a Texas Tech golfer in the history of Texas Tech intercollegiate sports will forever be preserved on film."

10 p.m., Friday, May 10
You could easily say that it was an up and down day for Texas Tech on Friday in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional Championship at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla. And that is exactly how Gabby Dominguez and Beverly Mendoza scored so well. Both were able to get up and down several times on Friday including an incredible save by Mendoza on the par 5, 5th hole, sinking her par putt from around 24 feet away. Dominguez' scorecard was what some golfers will call "boring" - and boring is great at this level. She bogeyed the first hole then rattled off 16 pars and one birdie. A big help - starting the round on the back nine and getting some of the tougher holes into the wind out of the way. Tech will do the same Saturday morning, beginning at 8:36 a.m. with Hannah Arnold. Elin Arvidsson (+8) will go next at 8:47 a.m., followed by Mendoza (+3) at 8:58 a.m., then Kim Kaufman (+3) at 9:09 a.m. with Dominguez (+1) teeing off in the final spot at 9:20 a.m.TOUGH STRETCH
Holes 16 through 18 proved to be some of the toughest for Texas Tech on Friday. They played as the team's seventh, eighth and ninth holes after teeing off on No. 10 to start the day and a change in wind did not help matters. The team played the three holes at 11-over par total. But the good part about a tough stretch like that is having plenty of holes to score on. The girls proceeded to rattle off six birdies over the next six holes and go 4-under par the rest of the way.LOW ROUND PICKS THE FOOD
A fun tradition with the team is that the low round of the day picks the dinner spot and usually a dessert as well. It was a barbeque kind of day for Gabby Dominguez after her even round of 72 on Friday. Then a special treat for her and her teammates at Braum's.

For JoJo Robertson, Thursday is a date her team has been looking forward to since early August.
Texas Tech, making its fourth-straight postseason appearance, will tee off the NCAA Central Regional Thursday morning with the first of three rounds at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
"We're very excited and looking forward to getting started Thursday morning," said Robertson, who is the only coach in school history to lead a team to the postseason in four-straight seasons. "We've played this course many times, so I think our team knows what to expect. Hopefully it will be a good week for us."
